Male Ring-necked Duck on South Lake 6 May 2006 J.S.Lees
Great Egret (Great White Egret) on the WWT 100 Acre marsh 5 May 2006 J.S.Lees.
6 May 2006 A male
Ring-necked Duck was discovered by Dave Paynter on South Lake this morning. He is having a good run this spring, James and I put in about five hours birding a day before and after work and he bags the two top birds in work time! Still it is great to see one of these smashing
aythya at WWT again. Also c15
Black-tailed Godwit on the same lake. At least two
Garganey possibly three on site from Holden Tower and Zeiss Hide. Belated news of a possible
small crake captured by a non-birder member of WWT staff and released into the reeds adjacent to the Barclay's Hide yesterday (5th May). It was initially thought to be a young Water Rail but the finder is now very doubtful of this.
